First Conviction in U.S. For Torture Committed In Another Country

Jan.9, Miami:

For the first time in U.S. history, a federal jury voted to convict a U.S. resident, Charles "Chuckie" Taylor, of torture he committed in another country, Liberia. U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga sentenced the 31 year old son of Charles Taylor, former Pres. of Liberia, to 97 years for leading a campaign of torture against opponents of his father.

MCLI Comment: Any other nation having a similar law might arrest, try, and convict George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld of war crimes, crimes against peace, torture, and other acts forbidden in treaties ratified by the U.S.
